Keshav Sarin left New Delhi, India and came to Utah 17 years ago. He fell in love with the mountains and the drumming community and decided to call the Salt Lake Valley his home. From a young age, Keshav was immersed in a musical environment as his mother sang and drummed at all the festivals and community gatherings. He embraced the cultural songs, drums, and dancing and developed a passion for music.
Upon arrival to Utah, Keshav discovered the African Dance and Drumming classes at Repertory Dance Theatre and it became his home away from home. It is also where he met the love of his life, Leslie, who is also active in the local dance community and is an accomplished creative dance teacher. They have two beautiful kids who are now immersed in their family’s love for the world of percussion and dance.
Keshav has over 15 years of experience in studying and playing various percussion instruments from India, West Africa, Congo, Cuba and Brazil. Keshav has been a drummer with Africa Heartwood Project. Keshav is also a board member and a drummer for Samba Fogo. Keshav is the founder of Utah Dholi, a dhol group promoting music from Punjab, India. Over the years, Keshav has performed with various local artists and musical groups in Salt Lake City.
